Amsterdam

Arrived in Amsterdam this morning around 11am. I'm having trouble with the time change b/c my phone says its 7 hours earlier than it is here, which isn't even the correct time at home, where it's 6 hours earlier. So the math is too much for my tired brain. It was really weird waking up on the plane and it was bright as day out but 3am on our clocks! We met a nice Dutchman on the plane who told us some more about Amsterdam and approved of our plans to hit the highlights of the city.

Took the train then a taxi to our hotel, dropped our luggage, and went to get some lunch as we couldn't check in til 3pm. Tried a Dutch traditional dish called bitterballs...pretty tasty. Now we're settled, showering, and going to go on a canal cruise to get the layout of the city and some good pictures! Tonight we have dinner reservations at "In de Waag" an old weigh house that's been around since the 1600's or something like that, at the center of Neiwmarkt Square.

The pictures are of the square near our hotel where we ate lunch...lots of people eating outside at the cafe's even though its 37 degrees with a windchill of 29!!
